2.2. Educators shape, advance and accelerate a shared vision for empowered learning with technology by engaging with education stakeholders.
2.2.b Educators advocate for equitable access to technology, high-quality digital content, and learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all students.
2.2.c Educators model for colleagues the identification, exploration, evaluation, curation and adoption of new digital resources and tools for learning.
During the 2023–2024 school year, out of 1,786 students, approximately 86% of our students were from low-income families. These are the students who would benefit from participation in a laptop loan program. I truly believe that access to technology is no longer optional but essential for student success. By equipping students with laptops, we would to provide them with the tools necessary to complete assignments, build digital literacy, and remain engaged in their learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
The potential impact of programs like this extend far beyond simple device access. With greater opportunities to work at home, students are more likely to remain on track with their assignments, which in turn reduces the amount of missing work. This shift allows teachers to spend less time reteaching or making accommodations for incomplete work and more time moving forward with new content.
Additionally, these programs strengthen communication. With every student connected through Canvas at our school, teachers, students, and parents gain faster, more meaningful opportunities to engage with academic progress and feedback. Overall, the laptop loan program represents an important step toward equity, ensuring that all students have the resources they need to fully participate in a modern learning environment.
This artifact outlines that idea.
In this artifact, I created a comprehensive evaluation plan for using SchoolAI as a tool to support growth in reading and comprehension. The goal of this plan was to examine how adaptive technology could be implemented to improve student outcomes, particularly in literacy. Since our district is moving toward adaptive testing, it makes sense to pair that shift with an adaptive AI program that meets students where they are. By personalizing instruction and practice, SchoolAI can provide immediate feedback, target specific skill gaps, and challenge students at the appropriate level.
I had the opportunity to pilot this program last year, and the results were very promising. For the teachers who consistently used SchoolAI, student progress in reading was evident, both in comprehension and confidence. This reinforced the importance of fidelity in implementation. Moving forward, I believe SchoolAI has strong potential to become an effective and scalable resource for differentiated instruction
